| AIRCRAFT WINDSHIELD CARE |
| How many times have you
been startled by an approaching airplane on the horizon only to realize
after an embarrassing series of aerial maneuvers that the plane was a scratch
or a speck of dirt on the windshield?. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT A CLEAN SCRATCH-FREE
WINDSHIELD is essential to SAFE flying.
Aircraft windshields are made from acrylic plastic. Acrylic plastic is considerably stronger than glass; it's face, however, is NOT as hard as glass. YOU MUST TAKE CARE WHEN CLEANING YOUR WINDSHIELD - Acrylic will scratch easily (never clean with a dry cloth). Acrylic will cloud, soften and craze when cleaned with ordinary glass cleaners or ordinary soaps. YOU MUST CLEAN YOUR WINDSHIELD WITH APPROVED PRODUCTS. IF YOUR CLEANER DOES NOT CARRY APPROVAL SPECIFICATIONS, DO NOT USE IT ON ANY ACRYLIC SURFACE. Aircraft windshields are expensive to replace and if cleaned with the wrong cleaners will deteriorate so badly that replacement will be mandatory. When washing aircraft, great caution should be taken in using a detergent that will NOT harm the windshield. There are many approved products on the market, such as Davies "AERO-KLEEN". All aircraft windshields should be cleaned and protected with an approved product such as Davies "KLEAR-TO-LAND". "KLEAR-TO-LAND" is a product that meets all approvals: MIL P5425 sheet acrylic plastic, Boeing Lexan 9600, MIL P2569OA stretched modified acrylic sheet, BMS-89-135, CSD-1 aircraft transparencies and sandwich corrosion. "KLEAR-TO-LAND" will positively increase the pilot's visibility under all conditions. It forms a durable, invisible film that causes raindrops to bead up and blow away, instead of spreading and streaking on the windshield. This durable, invisible film remains effective for days and sometimes even weeks, depending on the environment. Works well with or without windshield wipers. "KLEAR-TO-LAND" leaves
a brilliant shining surface that will make slight scratches disappear with
continued usage. "KLEAR-TO-LAND" is an anti-static cleaner that
will resist finger marking, repel dust, clean and glaze in one application.
"KLEAR-TO-LAND" rates very high in slip qualities, thus many pilots use it on leading edges of aircraft and particularly during winter months, since the slip qualities of the product makes ice slip more readily. Creates a surface that ice will not stick to as easily. "KLEAR-TO-LAND" is a great aid on leading edges in winter time. The increased slip is also good in summer months for saving fuel - plus minimizing bug specks on the treated surface. "AERO-TECH WIPES" blends the micro-fiber cloth technology, with the special needs of the aircraft cleaning industry. Select synthetic materials are micro-processed, into durable fibers, re-combined into a strong, durable non-scratch fabric.

| "AERO-KLEEN" Aircraft Detergent Concentrates | |
This formulation represents a breakthrough in detergent, solvent cleaning. Double detergent action is coupled with grease cutting solvents that effectively remove dirt and grime, but is mild on aircraft finishes. AERO-KLEEN #100 is highly concentrated and can be used at 1/2 to 3 fl. oz. per gallon of water (1 qt. to 1-1/2 gal. per 55 gal drum of water) and sprayed or brushed on. The cleaned aircraft is then thoroughly rinsed with water. At this concentration, the solution will have a pH of 8.0 - 8.5, depending on water conditions. Special corrosion inhibitors are added to protect polished aluminum surfaces. |
|
|
This product is a heavy duty cleaner and pre-spotter designed to clean the most difficult aircraft surfaces, such as near engine exhausts. AERO-KLEEN #200 is used from 6 to 12oz. per gallon, depending on cleaning severity, and applied to soiled surfaces with a brush, then scrubbed and rinsed off. A good starting point for cleaning is 6oz. per gallon, followed by a thorough rinse with fresh water. The pH of a 1oz. per gallon dilution is 11.4. |
|
The only aircraft detergent with POSITIVE EMULSION - an emulsion so strong that oil will not redeposit (will not settle out on the surface before the job is finished) thus leaving a dull finish after washing. Cuts through exterior grime without dulling the finish.

| Davies
DE-ICING
FLUID TYPE IV meets
the latest SAE Type II and AMS 1428 specifications for aircraft ice retardation.
This formulation is an anti-icing fluid specifically thickened so as to remain on the wing
and other aircraft externals to prevent ice from forming. Type IV products
are not used for ice removal, but rather for icing prevention. Propylene
glycol is used in this product to ease health and environmental concerns.

| "KLEAR TO LAND" Aircraft Windshield Cleaner | |
| For Aircraft Windshield
Cleaning - always be sure to use a cleaner made for acrylic plastic,
such as DAVIES "KLEAR
TO LAND". Spray on "KLEAR TO LAND" liberally then rub well
with a clean dry cloth. Minor scratches will be greatly improved over a
period of time. "KLEAR TO LAND" leaves an invisible film giving
the windshield much greater slip as well as being an ice deterrent
during winter flying. Due to the "slip value" of "KLEAR TO LAND",
pilots spray all leading edges of wings to obtain more slip and to be a
great ice deterrent.
