Safely Increase Total Alkalinity of Swim Pool Water
Total Alkalinity
Total alkalinity is a chemical measure of a swim pool water's ability to resist pH change. With low total alkalinity, small additions of pool chemicals will cause large changes in pool water pH, preventing proper chlorination and causing cloudy water. This condition may occur naturally from some water sources (Lake Michigan sourced water has proper Total Alkalinity) or as a result of over treatment of pH reducing products. DAVIES "pH-BUFFER" is added to raise the total alkalinity to the desired range of 80-120 ppm.
Directions
Add 1 1/2 lb. of DAVIES "pH-BUFFER" per 10,000 gal. of water will raise total alkalinity 10 ppm. Consult the Davies Computerized Pool Water Analysis for exact treatment.
