"Boiler Kleen WBO/PWB Field Test Kit"

TEST PROCEDURES:

Draw sample slowly as to not introduce oxygen during process and if sample is to be transported fill container to the top and seal as to not allow fluid to become oxygenated during travel.

  1. Rinse the sample tube #9198 with the boiler water to be tested and fill to the 25 mL mark. Allow to cool to “warm to touch” or lower temperatures. Immersing the test tube in cold water accelerates this step. While cooling, check the pH of the solution by using Davies pH test papers 6.5 - 13 range. The ideal range for pH in boiler systems is 9-10.
  2. Add 1 drop of phenolphthalein indicator R-0683 and swirl gently to mix. The sample should turn red.
  3. Add Acid Starch Indicator powder R-0725 by the dipperful while swirling gently until the red color disappears. Then add 2 more dipperful while swirling gently to mix.
  4. Add Iodide-Iodate Reagent R-0669 drop by drop (count the drops!) with mixing until a faint, but permanent, blue color appears. Always hold the dropper bottle in a vertical position when adding.

Each drop represents 10 ppm of oxygen; a 5-10 drop range is good (which is 50 to 100 ppm). The more oxygen scavenger product presents, the higher the number or drips.  The ideal rangesare 50-100 PPM Oxygen Scavenger
